This Should Happen More Often

Fred Van Lante and Ryan Dunlavey came up with an excellent way to promote their series Comic Book History of Comics. When the first issue sold out, they did a press release in comic book form.

It’s not the first time this has happened. But it seems like a fantastic way to get the comics way to disseminate an advertisement for your work, while also producing some supplemental material for the inevitable collection. I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often, although it might not make as much sense with something that isn’t meant to be quirky and funny.

Still, everyone working in the humor genre has no excuse for not doing this.

About Thomas Mets

I’m a comic book fan, wannabe writer, politics buff and New Yorker. I don’t actually follow baseball. In the Estonian language, “Mets” simply means forest, or lousy sports team. You can email me at mistermets@gmail.com
